The crossing, lasting 3 to 4 hours, takes you through ever-changing landscapes: quicksands, channels, salt marshes where the famous salt-marsh lamb grazes, and the silhouette of the Mount growing larger as you approach. Accessible to all from age 6 with a guide — never attempt the crossing alone.
The Bay's quicksands are real but nothing like their cinematic depictions. They appear as areas of very soft sand where you can sink up to your knees. Your guide will show you how to identify and cross them safely — one of the most fascinating parts of the adventure.
